Jobs sector update

Total average number of jobs per day on the gradireland site for May 2011 was 216, up from 178 in April. This is a year-on-year increase of 80% (May 2010 average was 120 live jobs). This is the highest number of opportunities gradireland have ever had on the site, with these 216 (average) opportunities equating to well over 250 actual jobs, internships or grad schemes. These opportunities will all be printed out and pasted onto a live Jobs Wall at the Summer Fair, which is a new initiative gradireland are implementing this year.

Trend analysis:   As we all know, IT grads are in great demand, and this sector was the only one where the number of jobs in May was actually down on April – this is because the jobs don’t often stay on the site too long as they are filled quickly. Indeed, in the office we have had innumerable calls from employers across a variety of sectors asking us to take jobs off the site before their actual deadline as they have successfully either filled the position, or received enough suitably-qualified applicants. This is very positive for gradireland as it shows that the site is delivering not just quantity but quality of applicants. We have been canvassing each employer during these calls and 100% are delighted with the quality of applicants and response they have received.

Most sectors have seen an increase in numbers of opportunities on gradireland during May but the main ones are: Engineering (up 20%); Marketing (up 32%); Science/R&D (up 53%); Manufacturing (up 36%); and Charities/voluntary sector.
